We provide Indigenous youth with an opportunity to connect with their culture and identity through art, whilst partnering with NRL clubs in the fight against youth suicide.
In partnership with selected NRL clubs, Boots for Brighter Futures provides young people with an opportunity to connect with their culture and identity through art by painting boots specifically for players to wear in the NRL’s Indigenous Round.
This process allows the artists to express themselves freely and most importantly, it empowers them to understand the value and importance of their own stories.
When the players involved wear the specially
designed boots, they also wear the culture, hopes and dreams of the young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who painted them.
All of the boots are then auctioned with all proceeds going towards supporting our dream – to raise awareness and support the prevention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth suicide and its
related causes in Australia.
Each of the artists also receive a share of the proceeds to support them in initiatives around education, employment and well-being and which contribute to them believing in, and achieving a future without limitation.
