To raise awareness and to support the prevention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Youth Suicide and its related causes in Australia.
Through education, employment and well-being initiatives we aim to provide Aboriginal children and young adults the opportunity to believe in a future without limitation.
The most recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics confirm that suicide has remained the leading cause of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children between the ages of 5 and 17, from 2015 – 2019.
Nationally, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are at least 3 times more likely to die by suicide, than their non-Indigenous counterparts.
Suicide is a tragedy that transcends age, gender and race, however, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, it is a crisis that needs urgent attention.
We believe one life lost to suicide is one too many and it is our own personal story which has connected us to our dream and inspired our focus; to develop preventative initiatives, address some of the key risk factors and enable long term, sustainable outcomes for Aboriginal children and communities.
